ANNEX 2 - LICENSING OBJECTIVES
General Licensing Objectives
As stated the premises comprise a country house hotel with substantial grounds. The location of the premises and the purpose for which it is used do not lend themselves to attracting casual drinkers, and these are not encouraged in any event. The intention of the applicants is to create a retreat for staying guests whilst also providing dining and a special venue for functions. The nature and volume of persons attending the premises, together with the pricing structure do not give rise to likely breaches of the Licensing Objectives.
Prevention of Crime and Disorder Objectives
The DPS personally arranges and supervises functions and rejects any applications from those who might cause a breach of the law. In any event the risk of criminal activity would be detrimental to the success of the business.
Public Safety Objectives
Fire and safety equipment are subject to regular checks under maintenance contracts and the applicants carry out risk assessments in-house. It is not believed that the premises and its environment pose a safety risk to those attending by the premises.
Prevention of Public Nuisance Objectives
The applicants are very strict with the control of the behaviour of those who attend the premises both whilst they are on the premises and when they leave. Although the premises are fairly isolated the applicants take care to ensure that their neighbours and the wider public do not suffer nuisance from those attending the premises.
Protection of Children from Harm Objectives
Children are not permitted on the premises unless in the care of a responsible adult. The applicants do not believe, with the safety measures and checks referred to above, that there are inherent dangers in the premises themselves. Under-age drinking is not tolerated. The applicants and their staff are vigilant in ensuring that no under-age person is served alcohol or that alcohol has been purchased for such a person.
