ANNEX 2 - LICENSING OBJECTIVES
GENERAL LICENSING OBJECTIVES
Multiple staff members will be holders of the BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate, additional employees will be provided with in house training in food and beverage handling and customer service.
THE PREVENTION OF CRIME AND DISORDER OBJECTIVES
There is a security gatehouse and barriers manned by uniformed personnel 24 hours per day 7 days per week. All security personnel are licensed by the SIA (Security Industry Authority). The security gatehouse is located at the main entrance to the entire premises.
In the hospitality suite alcohol is served as part of a tour of the brewing process. The tasting of beer and other products (limited to beer, lager and Reef branded products, no spirits are served and Reef is available for ladies only)
Alcohol is served as part of the tour package, with no cash payments being taken at the bar.
Alcohol is always served with a finger buffet lunch or supper as part of the tour package.
The hospitality suite is provided with ample table and chairs, no bar stools are provided. A NO Smoking policy is adopted at the bar, all this minimises vertical drinking.
Signage is up in the bar confirming we do not serve anyone under 18, and asking any drivers to make themselves known to the tour guides as we do not serve alcohol to anyone who is driving.
PUBLIC SAFETY OBJECTIVES
All visitors are provided, in advance, with a health and safety policy which has been determined subsequent to a full risk assessment.
All tour organisers have to sign a copy of the health and safety policy which is retained on site.
The tours are all pre-booked, we do not accommodate "walk up" ad hoc visitors.
As a preamble to the tour, the tour guide will verbally reinforce all health and safety issues on site and also ask if there are any drivers present to advise our drink/drive policy.
The use of the hospitality suite is after the tour of the brewery. The tour has a precise and pre-determined time of ending and all visitors are chaperoned upon exit.
Fire alarms are installed, all staff are aware of the Fire Evacuation Procedures and Assembly Points.
Guest numbers are always rung through to security before the start of a tour and an electronic computerised system registers all visitors. In the event of a fire this will enable the evacuation procedures to be swiftly implemented with factual head counts on site.
THE PREVENTION OF PUBLIC NUISANCE OBJECTIVES
The vast majority of our visitors have pre-arranged transport to and from the brewery by means of mini-bus or coach. The mini bus/coach will come onto site through security and transports visitors adjacent to the Hospitality Suite, equally on departure.
THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN FROM HARM OBJECTIVES
The hospitality visits never include under 18's.
We do however use the same facilities for educational tours organised in association with schools and colleges. The teacher pupil ratio is determined by national regulation for external educational visits.
All students leave us with an information pack on sensible drinking (literature from the Portman Group). At a specific area on the tour route we will discuss with the students binge drinking / drinking and driving and we highlight the effects and dangers involved.
