Prevention of Crime and Disorder Objectives
The shop is locked and alarmed to prevent people entering when ther is no staff on the premises. Any customer appearing under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be served. The alcohol will be placed on shelves in front of the till. The counter is right angled and the alcohol will be in full view of the staff at all times.
Public Safety Objectives
Both doors to the shop are clearly marked for exit should customers need to leave quickly. They, along with the back door, are self closing and checked regularly. There is a fire extinguisher placed in the shop which is checked on an annual basis. Certification is available to demonstrate this. Emergency lighting is in place should the shop and farm suffer power outages. There is a First Aid box placed in the shop and several of our staff has basic first aid training. These measures are all standard and have been in place for several years. Public Liability Insurance is in place and the certificate is on display in the shop. The premises comply with all Health and Safety regulations as well as disabled access and exit requirements. Off road parking is provided at the rear of the premises and outside lighting is provided.
Prevention of Public Nuisance Objectives
The shop closes each day at 6pm so there is no opportunity for the public to purchase alcohol outside these hours. Similarly, members of the public who are known to be troublemakers will be prevented from purchasing alcohol. As the shop is situated in a small rural community, away from a main road, our customer base view us as a "destination" shop (there is only one other small shop/Post Office in the village). The gift packs of alcohol are only for consumption off the premises.
Protection of Children from Harm Objectives
Any person appearing to be under the age of 18 will be asked for identification. Appropriate signage will be placed in the shop stating as such - No ID, No sale. Staff will all be trained on how to deal with this and a refused sales log will also be kept in the shop. There will be no sales of alcohol to anyone under the age of 18. Any member of staff employed by Bowtell's Farm Shop who is under the age of 18 will be accompanied by other adult employees.
