ANNEX 3 - LICENSING OBJECTIVES
GENERAL LICENSING OBJECTIVES
We will provide training to all staff with emphasise on:
Underage drinking "think 21" (photographic ID will be provided)
Drug awareness
Drunken behaviour
Loud and unruly behaviour inside or outside
Coffee, tea, soft drinks and snacks will be available during all opening hours. Inside and out will be kept clear of rubbish and empty glasses, bottles, crockery and cutlery. Unsafe or broken furniture will be removed immediately and disposed of or repaired. All public areas will be well lit at night until customers and staff have left. Signs asking customers to leave the premises quietly will be displayed along with signs stating we will be asking for photographic age identification. Noise nuisance will be kept to a minimum, and neighbours asked on a regular basis whether an inconvenience of any sort is being suffered and if so we will take action to remedy the situation.
THE PREVENTION OF CRIME AND DISORDER OBJECTIVES
We maintain a high standard of behaviour at all times. Customers who do not abide by our requirements which include:
No loud or brash behaviour
No foul language
No intimidation of other customers
No drunken behaviour
will be asked to leave and banned from the premises. These standards are known to all bar and waiting staff who report such behaviour to the senior staff member immediately.
The Star Inn is not situated near any major sporting venues and is not affected by supporters of Soccer, Football etc. In the event of any Hunting taking place no anti or pro fox hunting supporters will be allowed on the premises.
We do show sport on TV but it is very limited to what we show and we do not promote or advertise these events and they are watched by few people.
PUBLIC SAFETY OBJECTIVES
A First Aid kit is provided and all staff are told where it is kept. We keep an accident record book. We do not provide any children's play equipment and the beer garden is secure (Garden gate on latch) and away from the road. All furniture is regularly checked and if found to be unsafe removed immediately and repaired or disposed of. Empty bottles, glasses, used cutlery and crockery and litter are cleared away regularly and all spillages and breakages cleared up immediately. All rubbish and waste bins are kept in the private backyard. Fire extinguishers are in all trading and working areas. A fire blanket is also in the kitchen.
Extractor fans are fitted in all public areas, the dining area is non smoking.
When busy nights are anticipated all bar stools and some furniture is removed to allow easy access to the bar area.
THE PREVENTION OF PUBLIC NUISANCE OBJECTIVES
We will ask all our customers to leave external drinking areas by 2330 hours and to finish their drinks inside the premises. All windows and doors will be shut and any music played after 2330 (background music) hours will not be audible by local residencies. A notice will be put up asking people to leave the pub quietly. Live entertainment will not be longer than 2.5 hours and not finish later than 2330 hours. No amplified or live music will be broadcast or played externally. (This is with the exception of 1 day a year when music will be played outside. All neighbours will be informed at least 2 months in advance and an article written in the local magazine) This event will be held on a Saturday and the entertainment will finish by 2230 hours.
We have no equipment that causes vibration. All deliveries and collections will be made between 0700 hours and 1700 hours. Light Pollution-All external lights are turned off when customers and staff have left. Our external lighting does not affect any of our neighbours. Smells-Kitchen filters are cleaned weekly. Waste bins are covered and cleaned regularly. Septic tank and drains are maintained and the tank emptied when necessary.
THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN FROM HARM OBJECTIVES
Photographic proof of age will be required from anyone who appears to be underage, using the "think 21" scheme. We do not have gambling machines on the premises. We do not provide sexual entertainment of any kind. Although we allow children in the dining area and garden we will be putting up a sign to say Parents are responsible for their children at all times while on these premises, and we prefer no children to be on the licensed premises after 2000 hours. We do not have any child's play equipment and the garden area is well maintained.
